It is easy to have your favorite player be an Ovechkin or a Crosby, but what fun is that? That is why every now and then The Bench Boss likes to tip his hat and dish out some love for guys that don’t always get the recognition they deserve. A personal favorite of mine is Shawn “the hawk” Horcoff. #10 is a stand up guy on and off the ice and while he might not have the same flash and dash as a guy like his linemate Ales Hemsky, he still finds ways to put up respectable numbers year after year. There aren’t many players in the league that get so much done with having so little to work with. He is average in size, is an average skater, doesn’t possess the softest or quickest hands, and certainly doesn’t blow anyone away with his shot. Despite these shortcomings, Shawn finds a way to get things done and its because he is a flat out warrior. He might not doing anything great but he does everything good.
Ok, if I can be honest with you for a second, while it is true that I am a fan of Shawn’s, the main reason I am writing about him is so that I could post the following video. I just found it enjoyable to hear this beauty of a song played in reference to such a classy guy. When you are piecing together a musical tribute to Shawn Horcoff, would there even be any doubt that you would choose Shawn Michael’s WWE theme song? I didn’t think so. Hats off to the creator of the video, well done.
