Yours truly went a respectable 5 for 8 in his opening round predictions, only getting cheated by the Carolina Hurricanes and Anaheim Ducks, and being blinded by how bad the Calgary Flames actually were. Other than those blunders I was a dead-eye. Hopefully I can run the table this round. Let’s get going shall we.

I suggest clicking ‘keep reading’ at the bottom. Cmon. I swear by Jay Onrait that it does get funnier as it goes on and there are plenty of picture links in the text and youtube vids spiced thoughout. Oh yeah. You children of the internet love that. American National Anthem sung by lovely little Black Fellow. The [...]

7th Heaven
…And no, I’ not talking about the tv show, sorry Offensive Defenceman. Two game seven’s on the menu for hockey fans to feast on tonight, Rangers-Caps and Canes-Devils. When predicting a game seven you always have to go with the home team, so I’m gonna go with a 5-2 Caps win and a 4-3 Devils [...]

Nik and Torts in The Big Apple: Playoff Edition
Following the New York Rangers’ 4-0 defeat at the hands of the Washington Capitals, much has been made about the benching of super-pest Sean Avery. The Rangers still hold a 3-2 series lead heading back to New York for Game Six, but head coach John Tortorella is in a foul mood following the loss and [...]

Game of the Night: Blackhawks @ Flames
The series between the Chicago Blackhawks and the Calgary Flames has quickly become the marquee matchup of the first round. On the heels of their penalty filled affair in game 3, tonight’s game in the Stampede City should be a good one. Towards the end of the regular season and now 3 games into the playoffs [...]

The NHL Playoffs: Monday’s Observations
Game threes are always considered pivotal games in a best-of-seven playoff series, and as the action turned to fresh cities on Monday night, two teams made cases to get back into their respective series, while a storied franchise all but confirmed a quick first-round exit. I’ll be looking specifically at the two early games from [...]

The Recipe For Success
Ok so the San Jose Sharks are down 2-0 to the Ducks having lost the first two games on home ice. A tough mountain to climb yes, but one that the Presidents Trophy winners should be able to accomplish. Why is the Bench Boss so confident you ask? Simple really, its because once head coach [...]

NHL Playoff Update: Expected vs. Unexpected
Since the majority of series have two games in the bag (save for the San Jose / Anaheim matchup), it’s time to revisit some of my earlier comments and predictions to address what has surprised me, and not surprised me, thus far. Unexpected: Boston’s dominance of Montreal. Yes, I did say that Boston would take [...]
