NHL Draft 09: Schenn Squared

One of the most talked about issues surrounding every NHL draft is always the question of who the Toronto Maple Leafs will draft.  No team is scrutinized more than the Leafs are during draft day with all eyes on their every move. This year, if everything falls into place, the Leafs are expected to (or atleast hoping to be able to) draft centre Brayden Schenn who is the younger brother of last years first round pick Luke. Like I did yesterday with Evander Kane I won’t give you the run down or scouting report on Schenn, but I’ll instead post a highlight package for you to see for yourself. Enjoy.

  1. Ooops. From looking at the pre-draft rankings there was no way Toronto was going to get Schenn at #7. If Burke truly coveted the kid he needed to trade some assets (picks/players) to move up the 2 slots. Perhaps LA liked him enough to not to trade away the pick?

  2. Yeah, Burke kept saying that any deal to move up involved the elder Schenn, which he refused to do. Myself and The Bench Boss are unabashedly Leaf fans and may have been victims of wishful thinking (I know I was).
