Ryan Kesler and Mathieu Schneider, the only American born players on the Vancouver Canucks roster, had what was described as a very romantic Thanksgiving dinner together Wednesday night. The Canucks will be celebrating the American holiday tonight by taking on the Los Angeles Kings so Kesler and Schneider knew that Wednesday night would be the only chance for them to do something special. ”Oh we had a lovely time,” said the 25 year old Kesler, a native of Livonia Michigan. “We had the table set up in the dressing room, right on the logo actually. The lights were dimmed, candles were lit and it was just perfect. And the food, wow the food was absolutely fabulous. Turkey, mashed potatoes, corn, sweet potatoes, candied yams, we had it all,” an exasperated Kesler said as he loosened his belt signalling a satisfying meal.
“Don’t say anything but I think the rest of the guys were kind of jealous of me and Kess being American and getting to have possibly the best Thanksgiving dinner ever, and even more jealous that we were spending such quality time together. Not that I can blame them for being jealous though,” said the 40 year old Schneider who was born in New York City. “Being the oldest guy on the team its nice when you get to relax and have a nice dinner with one of the younger guys on the team, it makes you feel young again. Besides, Ryan is pretty easy on the eyes I might add,” Schenider said winking in Kesler’s direction. “Oh stop,” said the now embarrassed Kesler. “You’re making me blush.”
