The announcement of the roster for the United States 2010 Olympic hockey team will be televised at 4:00 AM on ESPN Ocho on December 31. While the announcement of the Canadian roster will be broadcast live nationally and watched by millions on the country’s biggest sprots network (TSN), the selection of the American roster will be shown on a station that specializes in dodgeball and lawnmower races among others. “No shit, that is gonna be on tv?” asked an astounded Zach Parise who figures to be a lock to make the team. “That is awesome that they are gonna televise it. I hope we get to go up on some sort of a stage and be presented with our jersey and stuff cause that would be so cool. I’ve gotta get myself a new suit it looks like.”
Tampa Bay Lightning forward Ryan Malone, another Olympic hopeful was also excited but somewhat disappointed to learn that the announcement will be shown at 4 oclock in the morning. “Geez, that is pretty early, but I can kind of understand it because the Ocho has been pretty loaded with coverage lately. Actually, I was watching this crazy sport yesterday where a bunch of crazy chinese guys were playing soccer, but the kicker is that the ball is lit on fire so they are basically kicking around a ball of fire. I think it was called Fireball or something. It was awesome.”
When asked why the announcement will be shown so late, ESPN 8 president Neil Lodgeman said that the network tried its best to have it moved up to an earlier time but in the end they felt that they had to do what was in the best interest of the network. “Sure, we would like to cater to our hockey fans but put yourself in my place for a second. Imagine the complaints we would get if we cut into our Dodgeball, Lawnmower Racing or Fireball coverage. There would be lots of angry people I can tell you that.” Lodgeman also mentioned that besides the fact that it will be shown at 4 AM, it will also be on a tape-delay but with that being said, ESPN 8: The Ocho is proving once again that it is the undisputed home of hockey in America.

Yeah, Dodgeball. The sport where everyone goes home with a trophy so there is no damage done to the players fragile self-esteem. LOL
Thank god I’m a Canadian…….where our networks will interupt our top politicians being killed footage to announce our Hockey roster! Gotta love it! The USA is so LAME!
