Michael Ryder’s Brother Has Bright Future In Armed Robbery

Daniel Ryder, a 3rd round pick of the Calgary Flames in 2005 and the younger brother of Bruins sniper Michael Ryder, was charged with armed robbery after he allegedly held up a convienence store this past Tuesday. Ryder starred with the Peterborough Petes in the Ontario Hockey League where he once won the Wayne Gretzky 99 award which is given to the MVP of the OHL playoffs, and although his future looked bright in the game of hockey, the 22 year old has decided on a much different career path. “Playing in the NHL was always my dream growing up but once I got drafted I just didn’t see the fun or the challenge in it anymore,” said Ryder. “I always promised myself that once I stopped having fun playing hockey, I would try something new.”

Ryder maintains that his new career as a professional robber is a little more fast paced than being a hockey player. “The feeling you get the first time you walk into that store and demand money while threatening the clerk with a weapon is a like no rush I’ve ever felt before. If I could describe it to you I would, but I can’t because you really have to experience it first hand. I don’t know why but hockey just starting losing its luster because every day its the same thing. It was becoming way to repetitive for me. Robbery is way different in that aspect because you never know what is going to happen. One day you might execute perfectly and come away with a good clean robbery, the next day you might make that one little mistake that causes you to panic and you might end up having to actually use the gun to save your bacon. Its that kind of possibility that really keeps you on your toes.”

Brother Michael also feels the change is a good fit for his younger brother. “He was having a tough time adjusting to pro hockey, so I told him that if he wasn’t happy with it then he should just do what his heart was telling him to do. Unfortunately his heart told him to turn to a life of crime, but I am still happy that my lil’ bro is doing what he truly loves to do.”

I’d like to know how Karma is gonna come around in this instance. Am I going to get caught committing a robbery at some point in the next few years? Hmmm you may be on to something…Maybe I will turn to a life of crime just like Daniel.
