With the news of Cooke’s dislike of anyone with native background it should come to no one’s surprise that on his player profile page for the Penguins website Cooke lists his two favourite movies as Dances With Wolves and Avatar. “Yeah he always talks about how he loves movies where white people try to more or less exterminate a bunch of what he refers to as ‘savages’. He says he never gets tired of watching stuff like that and it actually pumps him up before games,” said Pens defenceman Brooks Orpik. “We don’t agree with a lot of things he says but hey everybody has their own way of getting ready for games and if it helps him play at a high level then we have to let him do it because he’s been a pretty effective player for us.” It should also be noted that a previous player profile of Cooke’s listed his favourite movie as The Indian in the Cupboard, saying that it has “always been his dream to have his own miniature Indian that he could keep in a cupboard and just watch in amusement as he died of starvation.”

Matt Cooke Doesn’t Like Natives
In Sunday’s game between the Philadelphia Flyers and the Pittsburgh Penguins, Flyers foward Arron Asham accused Matt Cooke of biting his hand during a skirmish in the third period of Pittsburgh’s 2-1 win. The incident of course struck of major chord with Asham who said that he has no respect for Cooke, but the real issue at hand seems to be that of whether or not Cooke has a problem with Native people. Asham who is a part of the Metis tribe has been told by former teammates who have played with Cooke that the gritty forward has long shown negativity towards natives. “Oh yeah, Cooker was always going off on how he had no respect for any of the Native guys in the league, why do you think Chris Simon always wanted to rip his head off?” said Caps center Brenden Morrison who was a long time teammate of Cooke’s with the Vancouver Canucks. “He was always going on rants how it makes him sick how they don’t have to pay taxes, and how it pisses him off that they are just given free pieces of land to do whatever they want with.”
